De Bijenkorf, City Archives at City Hall Annex, Tielt

New city archive forms a coherent entity with the historic City Hall

Sum © 2010

The Tielt City Hall needed additional office and archive space. In 2005, the city administration was able to buy the building De Bijenhof which adjoins the City Hall. It was demolished in 2008.

The development project forms a coherent entity with the City Hall and can be seen from both the Market and the inner square. The reading room for the archives is located on the ground floor, directly accessible from the Market. The actual archive with the archive racks is located at the rear of the building.

The offices for the town clerk, the mayor and the aldermen are on this level. The building has a basement mainly for stability concerns. A high voltage cabin was also built in.
